Skylights

WHAT TO CONSIDER

Deck Mount Vs. Curb Mount

Skylights can be installed directly onto the roof sheathing (deck mounted) or onto a built up section (curb mounted). Sizes offered are typically different for the two methods so its important to know what is needed in your application.

Venting vs. Fixed

Regardless of how a skylight will be installed, it can be be operating (venting) or non-operating (fixed), depending on whether you are looking for just some additional natural light or some airflow as well.

Crank vs Motor

If a venting skylight is needed, you’ll need a way to operate it. Cranks are the basic way, but motorized units allow for remote controls, automatic rain sensors, and even a smartphone app.

Blinds

Though the basic function of a skylight is to let sun in, sometimes it can be too much. There are number of different styles, depending on how much light you would like to filter, and can be ordered in both manual or solar powered options.
